Bernal, Antonio Arias (1914 – 1960)

Arias Bernal known as ‘The Brigadier’ was one of the most important political caricaturists of Mexico during the first half of the 20th Century. He launched a new and original style, characterized by simple strokes full of wit and irony. His drawings were published on Mexican magazines such as Hoy y Mañana. In 40’s and 50’s went around the World and were reproduced in the Collier’s Magazine, Life & the New York Times give him the nickname of “The caricaturist of the World war II", so he acquired great international prestige. He collaborated with the Excelsior newspaper, and the magazines Mexico al dia, Don Fufurufo, y Todo, was founder of magazines Don Timorato, Don Ferruco y el Apretado.
